Anteaters Edge Titans 2-1 in Overtime

FULLERTON, Calif. - The UC Irvine men's soccer team (6-3-3, 1-2-1) defeated Cal State Fullerton 2-1 in overtime Saturday night in Big West Conference play at Titan Stadium.

Junior Shane Westbrook converted a penalty kick at the 65:41 mark to give the Anteaters a 1-0 lead. Jacob Shumway tied the match at 1-1 less than 10 minutes later as he dribbled the ball through freshman keeper Pat Barton at the 75:16 mark sending the match into overtime. The match ended in the 4th minute of the first overtime as freshman Spencer Thompson beat Titan keeper Tyler Andrews on a one-on-one from the top of the box at the 93:53 mark.

Keeper Pat Barton had three saves for the 'Eaters. Titan keeper Brent Douglas had four saves before picking up a red card in the 66th minute. Tyler Andrews had zero saves in 28 minutes for Fullerton.

The Anteaters will return to action Saturday, October 20th as they host Cal Poly at 7:00 p.m. in Big West Conference play at Anteater Stadium.
