RIVERSIDE, Calif. - The UC Irvine men's soccer team (6-7-4, 1-6-2) lost 2-0 at UC Riverside Wednesday afternoon in Big West Conference play at UCR Soccer Stadium.

 

The Highlanders took a 1-0 lead in the 13th minute as Zach Walker scored off a corner kick with assists by Steven Kaufman and Nathan Paterson. UCR sealed the win with a second goal in the 83rd minute as Brandon Plummer put the ball in on a cross from David Lozano.

 

Freshman keeper Pat Barton had one save in the match for the `Eaters. Keeper Charles Alamo had five saves for the Highlanders while earning the shutout.


 

 

 

The Anteaters return to action Tuesday as they host UC Riverside at 7:00 p.m. at Anteater Stadium in a match that was postponed due to the poor air quality from the Southern California fires.
