Men's Soccer:
No. 20 Anteaters Lose 3-0 to Cal State Northridge

IRVINE, Calif. – The No. 20 UC Irvine men’s soccer team (13-6, 6-4) lost 3-0 to Cal State Northridge Saturday night in Big West Conference play at Anteater Stadium. Sunghyun Kim crossed the ball from the left side to Devin Deldo inside the box in the 3rd minute to put the Matadors up 1-0. Rene Anguiano drove the ball down the middle and dished the ball to Kim on the left as Kim sent the ball inside the right post to put CSUN up 2-0 in the 11th minute. Dylan Riley connected on a cross to Deldo in the 20th minute with Deldo scoring his second of the night for a 3-0 Northridge lead. Anguiano was given a red card in the 53rd minute forcing the Matadors to play with 10 players. Mattias Bonvehi was given CSUN’s second red card of the night in the 85th minute dropping them to nine players on the field for the final five minutes. Junior keeper Victor Chinchilla (Palmdale/Taft College) had one save in the first half and freshman keeper Elmer Avelar (Los Angeles/Cathedral HS) had zero saves in the second half for the ‘Eaters. Keeper Michael Abalos had three saves for Northridge as he earned the shutout. The ‘Eaters will travel to San Luis Obispo to face Cal Poly Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. in the Big West Tournament semifinals at Alex G. Spanos Stadium.
