Anteaters Fall 2-1 to UC Davis in Overtime

The Aggies took a 1-0 lead in the 12th minute as Paul Marcoux found Ian Conklin on a through ball in the middle of the field and Conklin went in on a one on one with senior keeper Eric Reingen and knocked it past Reingen. Junior Matt Murphy tied the match in the 44th minute as freshman Gray Bailey took a throw in on the right side of the field and threw it in past the goal finding Murphy on the left side with Murphy squeezing the ball inside the left post. UCI had two opportunities to score at the end of the second half with a shot from Matt Murphy deflecting off a defender and off the post and junior Michael Willrich had a breakaway opportunity stopped by keeper Ryan McCowan. Sophomore Kevin Santora also had a one on one run at the keeper for UCI in the second half. Senior keeper Eric Reingen punched out multiple shots from the Aggies in the final two minutes to put the match into overtime. Dylan Curtis ended the match as he took a cross from Marcoux inside the box and knocked it home at the 97:05 mark to give UC Davis the 2-1 win.
Eric Reingen had four saves for the `Eaters. Ryan McCowan had six saves for the Aggies.
