IRVINE, Calif. --- UCI men's tennis released its schedule today full of another great slate of competition.

UCI has a big hand in the fall tournaments hosting a pair of them. October 5th-7th will be UCI's Pre-Regional at Anteater Tennis Stadium where the Anteaters will welcome in UC Riverside, LMU, Wofford, and Concordia University, Irvine.

This tournament will be a precursor to the USTA/ITA Southwest Regional Champions that will be held from October 19th to the 23rd at Anteater Tennis Stadium with schools from across the southwest converging on UC Irvine.

The regular season begins with a home opener against Nevada before Big West play starts up two matches into the season. The 'Eaters will head to across the Pacific to take on Big West newcomer, Hawai'i, along with Sacramento State in some late-January action.

UCI then heads out to face the defending National Champion in the USC Trojans. The Trojans boast three players ranked in the ITA preseason rankings in No. 9 Ray Sarmiento, No. 23 Emilio Gomez, and No. 25 Yannick Hanfmann along with the 12th-ranked doubles pair.

UCI's road continues with No. 26 USD with ranked players No. 91 Thibaut Visy and No. 119 Clarke Spinosa before playing No. 37 Fresno State at the Racquet Club in Irvine.

Non-conference play continues with trips to the midwest to face Wisconsin and DePaul, northern California for stops at Saint Mary's and No. 33 Santa Clara, and Las Vegas for a quick tournament with the host Rebels and Ball State.

UCI's home schedule picks up with five straight matches against a slew of ranked singles players as it hosts Utah, Gonzaga, No. 46 Middle Tennessee State, George Washington, and the finale against Princeton at Coto de Caza Country Club before conference play kicks in again.

The Anteaters will then travel to defending Big West champion Cal Poly to begin a stretch of three straight ranked schools from last season along with UC Santa Barbara and San Diego State.

A road stint at UC Riverside followed by a season finale homestand with Pacific and UC Davis leads right into the Big West Championships at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden in Indian Wells, Calif.
