UCI Fails to Take Advantage of Doubles Point Against No. 26 USD

Shuhei Shibahara and the 'Eaters fell at USD on Saturday.

SAN DIEGO, Calif. --- UC Irvine fell 6-1 to the 26th-ranked Toreros despite the early advantage of a doubles sweep Saturday afternoon.

Jonathan Poon and Tyler Pham led the way with another doubles win to put them at 3-0 on the season. Ryan Cheung and Jacob Jung earned the point for the 'Eaters at No. 1 while Shuhei Shibahara and Jonathan Hammel completed the sweep.

UCI (0-5, 0-1) couldn't keep it going in singles, however, dropping all six matches in sweeps.

UCI continues the action Sunday as it hosts No. 69 Fresno State at the Racquet Club of Irvine.
