Caryl Hernandez and the 'Eaters celebrate their share of a Big West title.

IRVINE, Calif. --- After a slow start to the season, UCI men's tennis has roared back for five straight Big West wins and earn a share of the Big West Conference regular season title with a 4-2 victory over UC Davis Sunday at Anteater Tennis Stadium.

The 'Eaters sped through doubles with 8-3 and 8-5 wins including a win from Justin Agbayani and Caryl Hernandez which secured the point.

UC Davis (8-12, 1-5) charged back with the first two singles points to take a brief 2-1 lead. Ryan Cheung continued his solid play to tie the match back up. Shuhei Shibahara and Jacob Jung would fight off oncoming, second-set rallies to provide the clinching points and give UCI a share of the conference title.

The regular season title is the fourth for UCI in the conference, third title that has been shared, and first since 2011. The win also guaranteed the 'Eaters the No. 1 seed in the Big West Tournament.

UCI (9-16, 5-1) will play Friday, April 26th at 11:00 a.m. and await the winner of the Hawai'i-UCSB match at Indian Wells Tennis Garden.
