Anteaters' Run Ends in Semis with 4-1 Loss

INDIAN WELLS, Calif. --- UCI men's tennis' No. 1 seed was no help as the 'Eaters fell to UC Santa Barbara in the Big West tennis semifinals 4-1 out at Indian Wells Tennis Garden Friday afternoon.

UCI (9-17, 5-1) scored the first doubles set, but UCSB (10-13) came back with two straight wins to earn the initial point on the 'Eaters.

UCSB compounded the Anteaters' troubles with early, straight set wins from position Nos. 4 and 5. Jacob Jung gave the 'Eaters some hope with a 6-3, 6-2 win, but Tyler Pham was unable to rally in the third set giving the Gauchos the ever-important fourth point.

For UCI, its underdog story ends in the Big West semifinals with a 9-17 record. It still retains a Big West regular season title after going 5-1 in conference.
