IRVINE, Calif. - Senior Zac Tsai (Tarzana/Oaks Christian HS) played in Hank Lloyd’s Costa Mesa Pro Futures Tennis Classic this week.

Tsai teamed with Jan Michael Gambill, a former top 50 singles player, in doubles during the tournament.

The pair defeated Ruben Gonzales and Michael Rubin 7-6, 6-3 in the opening round Tuesday. They then defeated the No. 2 seeded pair Nikita Kryvonos and Dennis Zivkovic 5-7, 7-6 (10-7) in the quarterfinals.

Tsai and Gambill lost 7-5, 6-4 to Robbye Poole and Erling Tveit in the semifinals Thursday.

This is the first professional tournament for Tsai. With the trip to the semifinals, Tsai will earn ATP Doubles Ranking points giving him a world ranking in doubles.
