Irvine, Calif. – UC Irvine senior Carson Clark has been named Molten Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Player of the Week after leading the Anteaters to a pair of wins on the road last week, including a victory over then-No. 1 UCLA.
Clark recorded a match-high 21 kills and hit .447 (21-4-38) as the Anteaters handed top-ranked UCLA its first home loss. The opposite also fired four aces and had two block assists and five digs versus the Bruins. Clark started the week with eight kills and four aces in a 3-0 win at then-No. 12 UC Santa Barbara. For the week, Clark averaged 3.62 kills, 1.00 aces and 4.75 points per set.
UCI, who is 16-3 overall and 12-3 in the MPSF, is ranked the No. 1 in the country this week and will travel to No. 13 Cal State Northridge Wednesday (Mar. 14) and No. 9 Long Beach State Saturday (Mar. 17). Saturday's match with the Forty-Niners is part of the Black & Blue Rivalry Series presented by Duke's of Huntington Beach.
