Head Coach David Kniffin |
| David Kniffin was named head
men's volleyball coach on July 9, 2012.
Kniffin returns to his alma mater
after serving one year as an assistant coach with the women’s
volleyball program at Illinois. Kniffin graduated from UC Irvine with a bachelor's degree in
philosophy in 2003. He was the starting setter for the 2002
and 2003 teams, guiding UCI to the school’s first No. 1
ranking and first Mountain Pacific Sports Federation post-season
victory as a senior. He ranks fifth in UCI career assists
(2,806) and posted the second-most single-season assists (1,632) in
2003. Kniffin earned UCI Scholar-Athlete and MPSF
All-Academic honors during his Anteater career. |

Assistant Coach Mark Presho |

Mark Presho is in his seventh season with the Anteaters as an assistant coach. Presho is a 1993 graduate of the University of Hawaii where he earned All-American honors as a junior and senior. He is second all-time in kills 1,582 for the Warriors behind Costa Theocharidis, who was ruled ineligible by the NCAA but his statistics remain. A former national team member, Presho went on to have a successful career on the Bud Light Pro Beach Volleyball 4-Man Tour playing for Team Paul Mitchell, where he won a league championship. He has won eight US Open National Championships with Team Paul Mitchell. The Orange County native is a graduate of Edison High School. |

Kevin Carroll is in his first year as an assistant coach at his alma mater. The outside hitter played for the Anteaters from 2008-2012 and was a member of UCI's National Championship teams in 2009 and 2012. During his tenure, UCI was 87-37 (.701) overall and won the MPSF Championship in 2012. He recorded 516 kills in his collegiate career, including a career-best 29 kills versus Penn State in 2010. As a prep at Los Alamitos High School, Carroll was honored as a Mizuno Volleyball Magazine All-America and Feb 50 as well as the Press Telegram Dream Team Player of the Year in 2007. He was a member of the USA Men's Junior National Team in 2006 and 2007. Carroll graduated in 2012 with a degree in political science.
