Cory Yoder Named MPSF Co-Player of the Week

Irvine, Calif. -- UC Irvine outside hitter Cory Yoder was named Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) Co-Player of the Week with Pepperdine's Cory Riecks. Yoder helped No. 11 UC Irvine to one of the season's biggest upsets in a 3-1 victory over No. 1 Cal State Northridge last week. The junior led the team with a season-high 17 kills on 39 errorless swings (.436). He added 10 digs for the double-double along with two blocks. Yoder hit .500 (7-0-14) and recorded a team-high seven kills in the fourth set. He also passed 23 balls without an error against a tough-serving Matador team. Overall, Yoder is fourth on the team, averaging 2.37 kills and 1.60 digs per set. It is his first career MPSF honor. UC Irvine will travel to Long Beach State Wednesday (Feb. 24) before returning home to host UC San Diego Friday (Feb. 26) at 7:00 p.m. at the Bren Center.
