Beijing, China -- The U.S. men's volleyball team defeated Brazil, 3-1 (20-25, 25-22, 25-21, 25-23) to capture the Olympic gold medal at the Capitol Gymnasium.

The U.S. team, which includes assistant coach John Speraw, remained undefeated in Olympic competition, taking down Brazil, the top-ranked team in the world, after dropping the first set.

It is the first gold medal for U.S. men's volleyball since Seoul in 1988 and the first medal of any kind since they claimed a bronze in Barcelona in 1992.

Clay Stanley led the U.S. with 20 points.
