Nine UC Irvine Men’s Water Polo Players Named MPSF All-Academic
IRVINE, Calif. --- Nine UC Irvine men's water polo players have been named to the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation All-Academic team for the 2011 season.
UCI's honorees are Bo de Lange, Sam Figueroa, Derrik Jarvis, Alex Kazmier, Winston Newland, Nick Pfeil, Brian Pickford, Alan Robertson and Mitch Wise.
Figueroa is a four-time member of the MPSF All-Academic team while Jarvis, Newland, Pfeil and Pickford are three-time recipients.
Criteria for the award included a minimum 3.0 grade-point average, a sophomore academic standing and one full academic year at the institution prior to this past season.
Forty-six UCI men's water polo student-athletes have received MPSF All-Academic recognition in Marc Hunt's seven seasons as head coach.
