Played on the state-championship team at Golden West College...his grandfather, Ted, is the former UCI head coach who won the most games in collegiate water polo...his father, George, was an All-American for the Anteaters...both are members of UCI's Hall of Fame....majoring in political science...parents are George Newland and Annabel Young.
