BERKELEY, Calif. --- Seventh-ranked UC Irvine mounted a fourth-quarter comeback but fell to No. 2 California, 13-10, in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation game Saturday at Spieker Aquatics Complex in Berkeley.

Cal (15-4, 3-1 MPSF) used a 5-0 run in the second quarter to take an 8-3 halftime lead.

The Bears maintained their five-goal lead at 10-5 after three periods but UCI outscored Cal 5-3 in the fourth quarter to close the gap.

Griffin Lerman and Brandon Johnson led the `Eaters (13-7, 1-2) with two goals each while Brian Dudley scored a game-high three for the Bears.

UCI faces Pacific Sunday in an MPSF game at noon in Stockton.
