UCI Uses Big Fourth Quarter to Defeat Pacific 6-4

STOCKTON, Calif. --- UC Irvine's four goals in the final quarter carried the seventh-ranked Anteaters past Pacific, 6-4, in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation game at Stockton Sunday.
UCI (14-7, 2-2 MPSF) trailed 3-1 at halftime before overtaking the 14th-ranked Tigers (12-11, 0-4) in the second half.
Sam Figueroa scored the lone goal in the third quarter with 38 seconds left to pull the `Eaters within 3-2 entering the final period.
Trent Baxter knotted the score at 3-3 with 6:21 remaining in the game and Brandon Johnson gave UCI its first lead of the day at 4-3 on a goal with 4:54 left.
Cole Bielskis extended the lead to 5-3 on a goal at the 3:23 mark before the Tigers' Tom Koning pulled Pacific within 5-4 with 2:10 left.
Greg Enloe scored an insurance goal for the `Eaters with 46 seconds remaining.
Bielskis led UCI with a pair of goals and Koning scored two for Pacific.
Matt Johnson had six saves in goal for UCI, which hosts a day/night doubleheader next Sunday, facing No. 3 Stanford at noon in an MPSF game and 10th-ranked Concordia University at 6:00 p.m. in a non-conference contest.
