Men's Water Polo:
FOUR UC IRVINE PLAYERS NAMED ACADEMIC ALL-CONFERENCE
December 21, 2006 IRVINE, Calif. --- UC Irvine water polo players Curt Merlo, Ty Newland, Matt Garcia and Greg Enloe have been named to the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) All-Academic team, announced executive director Al Beaird. Student-athletes must have a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point average, be at least a sophomore academically and have competed in fifty percent or more of the sport's contests. Enloe scored six goals on the season for UC Irvine while Newland, a two-time all-academic honoree had two goals. Merlo was the team's fourth-leading scorer with 18 goals and Garcia, who also earned his second all-academic nod, started in all 31 games and recorded 314 saves for the Anteaters.
