UCI REMAINS AT HOME THIS WEEK: Coach Marc Hunt's UC Irvine men's water polo team (12-5 overall, 1-0 MPSF) hosts UC San Diego Friday (Oct. 23) in a non-conference game and UCLA Saturday in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation contest. Game time is 7:00 both nights at Anteater Pool.

6-GAME WIN STREAK: UCI carries a six-game winning streak into Friday night's game versus UCSD and moved up two spots this week to No. 7 in the nation in the Collegiate Water Polo Association poll.

The `Eaters defeated Long Beach State, 9-8, in overtime last Thursday evening in an MSPF clash as Brandon Johnson scored the game-winning goal with 1:05 left in the second overtime period.

Johnson scored a game-high three goals with Cole Bielskis and Kyle Baxter adding two each in the "Black & Blue" win over the 49ers.

UCI won twice Saturday in non-conference action, defeating UC Santa Barbara, 10-8, and California Baptist, 14-8.

The `Eaters scored the game's final three goals in overcoming an 8-7 deficit against UCSB. Sam Figueroa hit the game-tying goal with 3:55 remaining and Bielskis scored what proved to be the game-winner with 3:08 left.

Greg Enloe scored three goals with Figueroa, Bielskis and Kyle Kruip scoring two apiece.

James Frank scored four goals and Kyle Kruip three in the 14-8 victory over California Baptist.

SCORING LEADERS: Cole Bielskis leads the balanced UCI attack with 35 goals, followed by Tom Kruip with 34 and Brandon Johnson with 26.

Greg Enloe has scored 22 goals, James Frank 20 and Kyle Kruip 15.
