Julie Brooks was named the second head coach in program history on August 24, 2006. She has been named Big West Coach of the Year twice, guiding her teams to two Big West titles and an NCAA Championship appearance in 2007 and 2009. Brooks came to UCI after serving as an assistant coach at the University of Hawaii since 2004 and was a volunteer assistant coach at California from 2000-02. She has also worked for Cooke Island Distributors, Hawaii's distributor of Callaway Golf. She hasbeen a professional at the Oahu Country Club, Burning Tree Country Club and Elmwood Country Club and is a member of the LPGA Teaching Division. Brooks played at the University of Arizona from 1986-1988, turning professional in 1989. She played on the Futures Golf Tour from 1989-1992 and received her B.A. degree in history from Hawaii Pacific University. |

Assistant Coach Jane Chin |

Jane Chin joins her alma mater as a volunteer coach at UC Irvine. Chin became the first UCI women's golfer to be named first team All-American by the National Golf Coaches Association. She was also awarded NGCA All-West Region distinction as well as the Big West Women's Golfer of the Year in 2009. Chin ended her senior year with a 71.94 scoring average which was second in the country in the Golfstat Cup. That same year she led the country in Par 3 scoring (2.89), was third in Subpar Strokes Per Round (3.63) and ninth in Par 4 Scoring (4.08). Chin placed 16th at the 2009 NCAA Championships, the highest finish ever for an Anteater player at the NCAA Championships. Chin won three consecutive tournaments in 2009, the only player in school history to win three straight. As a senior, she recorded rounds of 69 or lower nine times, including tying the school record with a 66 at the Kent Youel Invitational. Chin owns the school record for 36 holes (134) and 54 holes (203) which was also at the Kent Youel. Chin was an All-Big West selection all four years. |
