Jane Chin Shoots 68 Tuesday And Shares Lead After Two Rounds Of Anteater Invitational

Dove Canyon, Calif. -- UC Irvine senior Jane Chin shot a tournament-low 68 on the second round of the Anteater Invitational at the Dove Canyon Country Club and shares the top of the leaderboard heading into the final round.

 

Chin has a two-round total of 141 (73-68) and shares first place with UC Davis' Chelsea Stelzmiller (72-69). The duo are the only players scoring under-par for the tournament. Chin leads the tournament field with nine birdies and Par 5 scoring at three-under par (4.63).

 

UC Davis recorded the lowest team total of the day with a 293 and moved into a first place tie with Idaho (303-294) at 597. San Francisco is two shots back in third (599) while Long Beach State is fourth (602) and host UC Irvine moved up two spots to fifth with a 614 (318-296).

 

UCI sophomore Patty Chawalitmetha recorded a 75 on the second round, a seven shot improvement over the first day and moved into a tie for 28th place with total of 157 (82-75). Sophomore Hillary Packard is tied for 30th with a 36-hole total of 158 (80-78), while Henna Cho, who also had a seven stroke improvement with a 76 Tuesday, is tied for 34th with a score of 159 (83-76).  Freshman Lalita Patipaksiri shot a 77 on the second round, 11 shots better than Monday's outing and is tied for 50th with a 165 total (88-77). Playing as individuals, freshman Joy Trotter is 15th after carding a 152 (76-76), Mariko Makabe is 34th with a score of 159 (82-77) and Sarah Fox is 44th with a 36-hole total of 162 (86-76).

 

The tournament concludes with 18 holes Wednesday in a shotgun start beginning at 8:00 a.m.
