UC Irvine Begins NCAA Championships

Ownings Mills, MD -- UC Irvine shot a season-high 320 and sits in 23rd place after the first round of the NCAA Championships at the Caves Valley Golf Club Monday.
Denver leads the field with a score of 294 with the Pioneers' Stephanie Sherlock tied for the individual lead with Catherine O'Donnell of North Carolina after carding a two under 70.
Senior Jane Chin led the Anteaters with a three-over 75 which is tied for 25th place. Junior Patty Chawalitmetha shot a 78 and is 60th, while freshman Lalita Patipaksiri fired an 80 and is in 91st place. Sophomore Hillary Packard and freshman Joy Trotter each shot an 87 and are tied for 121st.
The championship continues through Friday with 18 holes each day. UCI's first tee time Tuesday is 12:30 p.m.
