UC Irvine Enters Final Day of NCAA Championships Tied For 23rd

Owings Mills, MD – The UC Irvine women’s golf team is tied for 23rd place heading into the final round of the NCAA Championship at  the Caves Valley Golf Course.

 

The Anteaters had their best round of the championship, shooting a 312 Thursday for a 54-hole total of 948 (320-318-312). UCI enters the final 18 holes tied with Ohio State for 23rd place.  The Anteaters will play with the Buckeyes and Texas Friday beginning at 7:30 a.m.

 

USC took the team lead at 890, one stroke ahead of Arizona State (891) and two shots in front of UCLA (892). USC’s Jennifer Song shot a one-under par 71 on the third round and leads the field with an even par 216 (72-73-71), two shots ahead of  Purdue’s Maria Hernandez and UCLA’s Maria Jose Uribe (218).

 

Senior Jane Chin shot her third consecutive 75 and sits in 24th place with a score of 225. Junior Patty Chawalitmetha had her best round of the tournament, shooting a 76 Thursday and is tied for 74th with a 234 total (78-80-76). Freshman Lalita Patipaksiri is 110th with a three round total of 242 (80-82-80), while sophomore Hillary Packard is 117th with a score of 250 (87-82-81). Freshman Joy Trotter is in 118th with a 251 (87-79-85).

 

The championships conclude with 18 holes Friday.
