UC Irvine Sits In Third After First Day Of Big West Championships

San Luis Obispo, Calif. - UC Irvine sits in third place after the first day of the Big West Championships at the San Luis Obispo Country Club.
The Anteaters recorded a 36-hole total of 627 (316-311) and are six shots of leader Long Beach State (621). UC Davis is second at 623. UC Riverside is fourth (637), Cal Poly fifth (641) and Cal State Northridge is sixth (649).
UCI junior Patty Chawalitmetha shares the individual lead with a six-over par 150 (74-76). She shares the top spot with UC Davis' Alice Kim who shot first day low of 72 on the last 18 and Lee Lopez of Long Beach State. Sophomore Hillary Packard is tied for sixth at 155 (77-78) and senior Jane Chin is 10th after carding a 157 (81-76). Junior Mariko Makabe and freshman Lalita Patipaksiri are tied for 22nd with a total of 165 (84-81).
The tournament concludes with 18 holes Tuesday.
