UC Irvine Sits in Fifth After First Day of NCAA West Regional

St. George, UT -- The UC Irvine women's golf team is in fifth place after the first day of the NCAA West Regional held at the Entrada at Snow Canyon Country Club.
The Anteaters shot a 295 Thursday and are eight strokes off leader Stanford (287). BYU and Oklahoma State are tied for second with a score of 291, while Arizona State is a shot ahead of UCI (294) in fourth place.
Freshman Patty Chanalitmetha leads UCI with a first round score of 72. Junior Selanee' Henderson shot a two-over 73 and is in 17th place, while junior Kim Lorenzana is 23rd after carding a 74 on the first round. Junior Jane Chin is 37th (76) and freshman Henna Cho is 50th with an 18-hole total of 77.
The tournament continues with 18 holes Friday and 18 holes on Saturday.
