Chin; Chawalitmetha Qualify for U.S. Women's Amateur

Irvine, Calif. -- UC Irvine golfers Jane Chin and Patty Chawalitmetha have qualified for the 107th U.S. Women's Amateur Championship August 6-12th at the Crocked Stick Golf Club in Carmel, Indiana.

The tournament consists of two days of stroke-play qualifying rounds followed by four days of match play. On the final day, the remaining two players will meet for 36 holes of match play for the Championship title.

Chin qualified for the championship after tying Mari Chun for medalist honors with a 72 at the Corral de Tierra Country Club. Chawalitmetha shot a 71 at the Hill Crest Country Club, tying for medalist honors with three other players to qualify.
