Women's Golf Sits In Third at Giustina Memorial Classic Golf Tournament

The UC Irvine women's golf team sits in third place after the first two rounds of the Giustina Memorial Classic Golf Tournament at the Trysting Tree Golf Club in Corvallis, Ore. The Anteater women shot a 601 (300-301) Monday and are seven shots off leader Washington State (594) and two behind second place Oregon State (599) heading into the final round. Senior Kim Lorenzana led UCI with a 147 (72-75), good for fourth place, four shots behind leader Felicia Eastick of Oregon (143). Sophomore Mariko Makabe is in ninth place after carding a 149 (75-74), while sophomore Patty Chawalitmetha is 15th with a two-round score of 151 (76-75). Senior Selaneé Henderson is 24th with a 154 (77-77) total and freshman Sarah Fox is 33rd with a score of 159 (78-81). The tournament pairs the men's and women's teams from each school in a combined competition against the other schools. Teams play in foursomes that include one male and one female from each school. In the combined team event, UCI is in fourth place with a score of 1,168. The Anteater men's team is in fifth place 567 (290-277) entering the final round Tuesday.
