Irvine Race at the Parker Cup!

The Anteaters raced their season opener last Saturday February 28th in the Parker Cup. The Parker Cup is an annual race against Loyola Marymount University and San Diego State University. The varsity women raced a good race coming in 3rd behind LMU and SDSU. UCI stayed on the stern deck of the SDSU and LMU boats for the first 1,000 meters, then fell behind as LMU and SDSU raced seat for seat race for first place. The anteaters doubled from the varsity 8 to the varsity 4 and led the entire way down the course. They came in ahead of LMU by 9.1 seconds and 23.4 seconds over SDSU. The novice women had a great first race of the season against San Diego State's A and B boats. The anteaters were overlapped on the SDSU A boat for the first 1000 meters and stayed within reach the entire race. They ended the race only 7.8 seconds down on SDSU A and 7.1 seconds ahead of SDSU B.
The Anteaters will be in Newport on their home course this Saturday March 7th. Come out and support the UC Irvine Women's Rowing team as they compete against UC San Diego, UC Santa Barbara, Long Beach State, Chapman University and Mills College.
