Varsity Women Sweep!

Newport Beach, Calif.- On Saturday March 7th UC Irvine lined up against UC San Diego, UC Santa Barbara, Long Beach State, Mills College, and Chapman University on their home course in Newport Bay. The Varsity Eight started the day of with a splash as they captured the win by 4.6 seconds over 2nd place UC San Diego. The Novice Eight was up next and took off without looking back. They led the field from the start finishing 7 seconds ahead of 2nd place UC Santa Barbara. The Lady Anteaters continued to impress as the Varsity Four finished 18 seconds ahead of 2nd place UC Santa Barbara. The Varsity Four - B fought an intense battle down the course besting 2nd place UC Santa Barbara by 1.8 seconds to capture the win. Concluding the racing was the Novice Four. Blasting off the line and leading the pack for the first 1600 meters, the Anteaters were overtaken by 3.9 seconds in the final meters by UC San Diego after a UC Irvine oarswoman fell off her seat.
