IRVINE, Calif. – The UC Irvine women’s soccer team (7-6, 1-1) beat UC Davis 1-0 in Big West action Sunday afternoon at Anteater Stadium.

Senior Rachel Flemming (Mission Viejo HS) scored the first goal of her career in the 26^th minute following a corner kick by sophomore Milana Shabestari (Manhattan Beach/Mira Costa HS) to freshman Judy Christopher (Ontario/Upland HS) who passed it to Flemming. The Aggies had opportunities to score, including a breakaway on an open net that was shut down by sophomore defender Sarah Busby (San Diego/El Capitan HS) at the last second in the 22^nd minute.

Sophomore keeper Erica Quevedo (Northridge/North Hills Prep) had five saves to earn her second shutout of the season. Keeper Sarah Peters had five saves for the Aggies.

The Anteaters return to Big West action Sunday, October 12^th in Long Beach as they take on Long Beach State in a Black & Blue Rivalry Series match at 2:00 p.m. at George Allen Field.
