RIVERSIDE, Calif.  - The UC Irvine women's soccer team (8-7-1, 2-2-1) defeated UC Riverside 1-0 Sunday night in Big West Conference play at UCR Soccer Stadium.

 

With the match tied at 0-0 in the 86^th minute, the Highlanders commited a foul inside the penalty box to give UCI a chance at a penalty kick. Freshman Judy Christopher (Ontario/Upland HS) took the kick and converted to put the ‘Eaters up 1-0 in the final four minutes. The goal is the first career goal for Christopher.

Sophomore keeper Danielle de Seriere (Cerritos/Mayfair HS) had three saves as she earned her second shutout of the season and the 11^th of her career. Keeper Brittany Goetz had five saves for UC Riverside.

 

The ‘Eaters will host their final home game of the regular season Thursday as they host Cal State Northridge at 7:00 p.m. at Anteater Stadium.
