Anteaters Lose 2-0 at Cal Poly in Big West Semifinals

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – The No. 4 seed UC Irvine women’s soccer team (12-7-2) lost 2-0 to No. 1 seed Cal Poly in the Big West Tournament semifinals at Alex G. Spanos Stadium.
Kristina Condon-Sherwood took a free kick and sent it into the box where it was headed in by Julianne Grinstead in the 23rd minute to put Cal Poly up 1-0. Morgan Miller kicked in a ball headed by Carissa Voegele off a corner kick by Condon-Sherwood in the 60th minute to give the Mustangs a 2-0 lead. The ‘Eaters out shot the Mustangs 14-10, including eight shots on goal, but were unable to get on the scoreboard.
Junior keeper Danielle de Seriere (Cerritos/Mayfair HS) had four saves for the ‘Eaters. Keeper Coral Hoover had eight saves and the shutout for the Mustangs.
The ‘Eaters conclude the year with a 12-7-2 record overall and a fourth place finish in the Big West Conference.
