IRVINE, Calif. – Sophomore Lani Amack has joined the UC Irvine women’s soccer after transferring to UCI from Washington State.

Amack, a 5’9” midfielder from Danville, redshirted the 2009 season at Washington State. As a freshman in 2008, she played in 14 matches and started four of them for the Cougars.

”The whole package at UCI was very attractive to me,” Amack said about transferring UC Irvine. “There is great DI athletics at a level I am used to competing at, outstanding academics (which are important to me as a biology/pre-med major) and a great group of people that completed the whole deal. The coaching staff at UCI is very knowledgeable in the game of soccer, but also understands that we are students as well. I like the balance of life that they promote.”

“Lani Amack is a naturally left sided player who will bring a critical balance to our team,” UCI head coach Scott Juniper stated. “She can also play centrally and will add strength and experience to the back line and our midfield.@ She has Pac-10 and NCAA tournament experience behind her and we look forward to adding that to our team.@ Lani is a player that fits into our daily competitive mentality and I am excited to see her play with us through the spring.@ Lani also excels in the classroom and I know she is excited by the academic opportunities here at UC Irvine.”
