IRVINE, Calif. – Sophomore Courtney “CoCo” Goodson has joined the UC Irvine women’s soccer after transferring to UCI from Texas.

Goodson, a 5’11” midfielder/forward from Ramona, Calif., was third on the team in scoring with two goals and two assists in the 2009 season at Texas. As a freshman in 2008, she tied for the team lead in scoring with 16 points off six goals and four assists. She started in 19 of 21 matches for the Longhorns and was named to the 2008 Big 12 All-Newcomer Team and the 2008 Soccer Buzz All-Freshman Central Region team.

”I had been recruited by Scott (UCI head coach Scott Juniper) out of high school and had heard great things about the program,” Goodson said about transferring to UC Irvine. “The coaching staff is so friendly and they have a genuine passion for coaching girls at this level. They have done a great job with the program and will continue to as well. “

“CoCo Goodson is a player that I have admired for a long time,” UCI head coach Scott Juniper stated. “I watched her extensively through her club career and her two years of experience at the University of Texas makes her another player that can impact our team immediately.  She is a strong player that can play in the back, the midfield and as a target forward.  We will see through the spring where she competes most effectively in our team.  I know that CoCo is excited to be a part of a team that passionately striving for the next level.” 

“I wanted to come back to California where my parents could watch me play in college,” Goodson added. “I’m glad to be back and hope to make the ‘Eater Nation proud.”
