ANTEATERS HOST PACIFIC, UC DAVIS: The UC Irvine women’s soccer team (6-5) will host Pacific Friday at 7:00 p.m. in the Big West opener for both teams at Anteater Stadium. The ‘Eaters will then host UC Davis Sunday at 12:00 p.m. at Anteater Stadium.


ABOUT THE OPPONENTS: The Tigers are 5-4 entering the week. Kristina Wavomba leads UOP with eight points. Keeper Amanda McNabb has a 1.11 goals against average and three shutouts.

The Aggies are 5-2-2 and face Long Beach State before meeting the ‘Eaters. Rochelle VanBuskirk is UCD’s leading scorer with seven points. Keeper Sarah Peters has a 1.15 goals against average and two shutouts.


WEEK IN REVIEW: The Anteaters went 2-0 on the week defeating
San Francisco 2-0 and Pepperdine 2-1. Sophomore Tanya Taylor (Buena Park/Sunny Hills HS) had the gamewinner against USF and an assist against the Waves. Sophomore Alyssa Humphrey (Rancho Santa Margarita/Santa Margarita HS) and junior Amanda Phillips (Dublin/Fullerton College) each scored in the match against the Waves. Freshman keeper Erica Quevedo (Northridge/North Hills Prep) earned a shutout against the Dons.


 

 

ANTEATER LEADERS: Kate Berrini leads the team with 10 points on four goals and two assists. Sophomore Tanya Taylor is second with seven points. Amanda Phillips and Alyssa Humphrey are tied for third with five points. Senior keeper Erin Henry (Irvine/Mater Dei HS) has 16 saves and one shutout. Sophomore Danielle de Seriere (Cerritos/Mayfair HS) has 20 saves, a 1.60 goals against average and one shutout on the year. Erica Quevedo has a 0.46 goals against average and one shutout.


UCI RECORD BOOK
: Sophomore keeper Danielle de Seriere is sixth all-time in shutouts with 10. Senior keeper Erin Henry is eighth all-time with 139 career saves. Henry is tied for 11th all-time with three shutouts. Kate Berrini is tied for 17th all-time in goals with 10 and is 23rd in total points with 23. Junior Megan Ortiz (Corona HS) is currently 30th all-time in goals with six and is 40th all-time with 15 points in her career.


HEAD COACH Scott Juniper:
The Anteaters are led by head coach Scott Juniper who is in his second season leading the Anteaters. Juniper led the ‘Eaters to a record of 11-7-2 in 2007 and a third place finish in the Big West Conference.
