Anteaters at Cal State Fullerton; host UC Riverside

ANTEATERS AT CAL STATE FULLERTON; HOST UC RIVERSIDE: The UC Irvine women’s soccer team (9-5-1, 2-2) will travel cross-county to face Cal State Fullerton Friday at 7:00 p.m. at Titan Stadium. The team will then return home to host UC Riverside Sunday at 5:00 p.m. at Anteater Stadium.
ABOUT THE OPPONENTS: The Titans are 3-7-3 overall and 1-2 in Big West play. There are three players with four points each to lead Fullerton. Keeper Shannon Simpson has a 1.34 goals against average and three shutouts this season.
The Highlanders are 5-5-3 overall and 0-2 in Big West play entering the week. UCR has three players tied for the team lead with four points each. Keeper Jessica White has a 0.59 goals against average and six shutouts on the year.
WEEK IN REVIEW: The ‘Eaters went 1-1 on the road with a 1-0 win at Pacific and a 2-1 loss at UC Davis. Junior Tanya Taylor (Buena Park/Sunny Hills HS) and senior Kate Berrini (Foster City/Notre Dame HS) each had goals. Freshman Mar Rodriguez (Santa Ana/Valley HS) had assists on both UCI goals. Keeper Danielle de Seriere (Cerritos/Mayfair HS) had four saves on the week and picked up her seventh shutout of the year against the Tigers.
ODDS & ENDS: UCI has 14 players that have recorded a point this season, including goalkeeper Danielle de Seriere. UCI is 9-1 in matches that have ended in a regulation 90 minutes this season with three overtime losses, a tie and a loss to Arizona State in a weather-shortened match.
The team had an eight game unbeaten streak earlier this season, the third longest in school history. The team is ranked ninth in the West Region by the NSCAA.
ANTEATER LEADERS: Freshman Dana Sanderlin (Upland HS) and Tanya Taylor lead the team with 14 points on five goals and four assists each. Mar Rodriguez is third with 12 points. Freshman Devon Delarosa (San Diego/Rancho Bernardo HS) is fourth with 11 points. Danielle de Seriere has 49 saves, seven shutouts and a 0.98 goals against average this season.
UCI RECORD BOOK: Danielle de Seriere is second all-time in shutouts with 19 and is fifth all-time with 175 saves. Her goals against average of 0.85 is the lowest career total in UCI history. Senior Kate Berrini (Foster City/Notre Dame HS) is tied for 13th all-time in goals with 11 and is 23rd in total points with 25. Tanya Taylor is 12th with 33 career points and tied for 11th with 12 goals. Taylor is 16th with nine career assists. Senior Caty Cope (Northwood HS) is tied for 13th with 10 career assists.

HEAD COACH Scott Juniper: The Anteaters are led by head coach Scott Juniper who is in his third season leading the Anteaters. In his first two seasons at UCI, Juniper has a 19-16-4 record overall and a 7-6-3 record in Big West matches. UCI reached the Big West Tournament in his first season and has steadily moved up the national rankings since Juniper took over the program.
