ANTEATERS CLOSE OUT REGULAR SEASON: The UC Irvine women’s soccer team (10-6-2, 3-3-1) will host Long Beach State Thursday at 7:00 p.m. in their final Big West match of the season. The Black & Blue Rivalry series match will be played at Anteater Stadium. The team will then host Gonzaga in non-conference play Sunday at 1:00 p.m. in their final regular season match of the year.
With one week left in the regular season the ‘Eaters are currently tied fourth in the Big West with 10 points overall with Pacific. Cal Poly (18 points), UC Santa Barbara (16 points) and Cal State Northridge (15 points) have each clinched berths into the Big West Tournament.
UCI holds the tiebreaker with Pacific due to UCI’s victory over the Tigers. Pacific plays at UC Riverside Friday and at Cal State Fullerton Sunday. A potential tie between the ‘Eaters and Fullerton would first be decided by goal differential in conference matches.
ABOUT THE OPPONENTS: The 49ers are 5-9-3 overall and 1-4-1 in Big West play. Shawna Gordon leads LBSU with 15 points on the year. Keepers Emily Kingsborough and Nicoline Jorgensen have split time in the net for the 49ers.
The Bulldogs are 8-9 overall on the year and will play at San Diego before arriving in Irvine to face the ‘Eaters.
WEEK IN REVIEW: The ‘Eaters lost 1-0 at Cal State Northridge in their lone match of the week. Junior keeper Danielle de Seriere (Cerritos/Mayfair HS) had six saves during the match.
ODDS & ENDS: UCI has 14 players that have recorded a point this season, including goalkeeper Danielle de Seriere. UCI is 9-2 in matches that have ended in a regulation 90 minutes this season with four matches decided in overtime, two ties and a loss to Arizona State in a weather-shortened match.
The team had an eight game unbeaten streak earlier this season, the third longest in school history.
ANTEATER LEADERS: Freshman Dana Sanderlin (Upland HS) and junior Tanya Taylor (Buena Park/Sunny Hills HS) lead the team with 16 points on six goals and four assists each. Freshmen Mar Rodriguez (Santa Ana/Valley HS) and Devon Delarosa (San Diego/Rancho Bernardo HS) are tied for third with 12 points each. Danielle de Seriere has 57 saves, seven shutouts and a 0.98 goals against average this season.
UCI RECORD BOOK: Danielle de Seriere is second all-time in shutouts with 19 and is fifth all-time with 183 saves. Her goals against average of 0.86 is the lowest career total in UCI history. Tanya Taylor is tied for 10th with 13 goals and 11th with 35 career points. Taylor is tied for eighth with five career game-winning goals and is 16th with nine career assists. Senior Kate Berrini (Foster City/Notre Dame HS) is tied for 13th all-time in goals with 11 and is 23rd in total points with 25. Senior Caty Cope (Northwood HS) is tied for 13th with 10 career assists.

HEAD COACH Scott Juniper: The Anteaters are led by head coach Scott Juniper who is in his third season leading the Anteaters. In his first two seasons at UCI, Juniper has a 19-16-4 record overall and a 7-6-3 record in Big West matches. UCI reached the Big West Tournament in his first season and has steadily moved up the national rankings since Juniper took over the program.
