ANTEATERS AT CAL POLY, UC SANTA BARBARA: The UC Irvine women’s soccer team (8-7-2, 2-2-2) will conclude the regular season with a pair of Big West matches on the road. The ‘Eaters will first head to San Luis Obispo Friday to take on Cal Poly at 7:00 p.m. at Mustang Stadium. UCI will then head down the coast to Santa Barbara to take on UC Santa Barbara Sunday at 5:00 p.m. at Harder Stadium.

The Anteaters currently are in fifth place in the Big West with eight points. If UCI wins both matches this week they are guaranteed a spot in the Big West Tournament next week.


 

 


ABOUT THE OPPONENTS: The Mustangs are
9-8-0 overall and 4-2-0 in the Big West. Ashley Vallis leads Cal Poly with 10 points on the year. Keeper Coral Hoover has a 1.26 goals against average and three shutouts on the year.

The Gauchos are 11-5-1 overall and 4-1-1 in Big West play. Genelle Ives has 22 points on eight goals and six assists to lead UCSB. Keepers Ali Cutler and Tammy Lenham have split time in net for the Gauchos this season.


WEEK IN REVIEW: The Anteaters played Cal State Northridge to a 0-0 tie in their lone match last week. Sophomore keeper Danielle de Seriere (Cerritos/Mayfair HS) had five saves to earn her third shutout of the season.


ANTEATER LEADERS: Junior Kate Berrini (Foster City/Notre Dame HS) leads the team with 10 points on four goals and two assists. Sophomore Tanya Taylor (Buena Park/Sunny Hills HS) is second with eight points. Milana Shabestari is third with six points. Senior Amanda Phillips (Dublin/Fullerton College) and sophomore Alyssa Humphrey (Santa Margarita HS) are tied for fourth with five points. Senior keeper Erin Henry (Irvine/Mater Dei HS) has 16 saves and one shutout. Danielle de Seriere has 25 saves, a 1.28 goals against average and two shutouts on the year. Freshman keeper
Erica Quevedo (Northridge/North Hills Prep) has a 0.56 goals against average and three shutouts.


UCI RECORD BOOK
: Danielle de Seriere is tied for fourth all-time in shutouts with 12. Erin Henry is eighth all-time with 139 career saves. Henry and Erica Quevedo are tied for 11th all-time with three shutouts. Kate Berrini is tied for 17th all-time in goals with 10 and is 23rd in total points with 23. Senior Megan Ortiz (Corona HS) is currently 30th all-time in goals with six and is 40th all-time with 15 points in her career.


HEAD COACH Scott Juniper:
The Anteaters are led by head coach Scott Juniper who is in his second season leading the Anteaters. Juniper led the ‘Eaters to a record of 11-7-2 in 2007 and a third place finish in the Big West Conference.
