Anteaters at Big West Tournament in Fullerton

ANTEATERS AT BIG WEST TOURNAMENT: The UC Irvine women's soccer team (11-6-2, 5-2-1) will be the No. 4 seed at the Big West Tournament in Fullerton this week. The team will face No. 1 seed Cal State Fullerton Friday at 7:30 p.m. in the second game of a doubleheader. No. 2 seed Long Beach State will face No. 3 seed Cal Poly in the first game at 5:00 p.m. at Titan Stadium.


ANTEATER BIG WEST TOURNAMENT HISTORY
: This will be the fourth time that UCI has played in the Big West Tournament in the seven year history of the tournament. UCI has prior appearances in 1996, 1997 and 2003. The `Eaters won the Big West Tournament in the 1997 season.

This year's field features the four programs to have qualified the most frequently in the history of the tournament with Cal Poly and Cal State Fullerton making their sixth trip and UCI and Long Beach State each making their fourth trips.

BIG WEST TOURNAMENT TICKET INFORMATION: All-tournament passes are available for $18 for adults and $12 for youth (ages 3-17), seniors (65-and-better), and students. All-tournament passes will be available on a presale basis only until noon on Friday (Nov. 9) by calling the Cal State Fullerton athletic ticket office at (714) 278-CSUF.

Single-day passes are available for $10 for adults, $7 for youth and seniors, and $5 for students from the four participating schools (with valid ID). Tickets can also be purchased online by clicking here.

BIGWEST.TV TO COVER TOURNAMENT: The 2007 Big West Women's Soccer Tournament will be broadcast LIVE on BigWest.TV for the first time beginning Friday, November 9 with the semifinals. The entire tournament is available to regular BigWest.TV subscribers, as well as on a pay-per-view basis. ABOUT THE FIELD: The Titans are 11-7-1 overall and 6-2 in Big West play. Lauren Cram leads Fullerton with 14 points on the year. Keeper Shayla Sabin has a goals against average of 0.82 and six shutouts on the year.

The 49ers are 13-6-0 overall and 6-2 in Big West play. Kim Silos has 23 points to lead Long Beach. Keeper Breanna Truelove has a goals against average of 1.11 on the year.

The Mustangs are 7-9-2 overall and 5-2-1 in Big West play. Sharon Day and Carrie Andrews are tied for the team lead with six points. Keeper Alli Tramel has a 1.16 goals against average and seven shutouts on the year.


NCAA STATISTIC LEADERS: Freshman Caty Cope (Irvine/Northwood HS) is tied for 11th in the nation with 0.59 assists per game. Freshman keeper Danielle de Seriere (Cerritos/Mayfair HS) is tied for 9th in the NCAA with saves on 89.0% of the shots she faces and is 18th with a goals against average of 0.565. The Anteaters as a team are 30th with shutouts in 52.6% of their matches.


WEEK IN REVIEW: The Anteaters went 2-1 to clinch a spot in this weeks Big West Tournament. UCI beat
Long Beach State 1-0 and UC Riverside 2-0 and lost 1-0 at Cal State Fullerton. Senior Makenzie Beahm (San Clemente HS), senior Kim Conlan (Atascaderoo HS) and freshman Gilly Acedo (Pasadena HS) each had goals for UCI on the week. Danielle de Seriere had 12 saves and two shutouts on the week.


ANTEATER LEADERS:
Senior Kim Horn leads the team with 13 points on the year. Senior Frankee Kelly, freshman Tanya Taylor (Buena Park/Sunny Hills HS), sophomore Kate Berrini (Foster City, Calif./Notre Dame HS) are tied for second with five goals and 11 points each on the year. Senior Kim Horn has nine points. Caty Cope has 10 assists on the year. Freshman keeper Danielle de Seriere has 81 saves and a goals against average of 0.56 and nine shutouts.  


UCI RECORD BOOK
: Freshman keeper Danielle de Seriere is tied for sixth all-time in shutouts with nine. She is tied for the UCI single season shutout record as well. Caty Cope holds the single season assist record with 10 on the year.Junior keeper Erin Henry (Irvine/Mater Dei HS) is 10th all-time with 119 career saves. Henry is tied for 12th all-time with two shutouts. Sophomore Megan Ortiz (Corona HS) is currently 30th all-time in goals with six and is 40th all-time with 15 points in her career.


HEAD COACH Scott Juniper:
The Anteaters are led by first year head coach Scott Juniper who is in  his second season overall with the Anteaters after serving as an assistant coach under April Heinrichs during the 2006 season.
