Tim Downey Position: Volunteer Assistant Coach

Tim Downey has been playing tennis for over 40 years. He grew up in San Clemente, CA, and competed in juniors, open, and senior tournaments winning numerous titles and establishing SoCal and National Top 10 rankings in singles and doubles. He also competed in numerous pro events throughout the years. He played for Saddleback College in 1980-81 earning All-Conference in singles and doubles and was honored with his induction into their athletic Hall of Fame.

Tim earned his AA from Saddleback College, and BS Business Management and MBA from the University of Phoenix.

Tim has taught and coached individuals and club teams for over 30 years. In 2000, he became assistant coach of men's tennis at Saddleback College. In 2004, he became head coach for two years keeping Saddleback ranked in the Top 10 in California. He also taught tennis and conditioning classes.

He joined the staff at UCI in 2006. "I am honored to be a part of UCI tennis and look forward to imparting my knowledge of tennis to these terrific student-athletes to help them achieve success greater than their expectations."
