IRVINE, Calif. - The No. 57 UC Irvine women's tennis team (0-1) lost 6-1 to No. 9 USC Monday afternoon at Marks Stadium in their season opener.

The Women of Troy won two of the three doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead. Junior Brooke Bartlett (Fountain Valley HS) and freshman Kristina Smith (Dana Hills HS) defeated Andrews/Pulido 8-7 in the No. 3 doubles match.

Smith gave the ‘Eaters their lone point of the match as she defeated Lyndsay Kinstler 6-2, 2-6, 6-2 in the No. 6 singles match.

The Anteaters will next travel to San Diego to take on No. 42 San Diego State Saturday at 12:00 p.m. at the Aztec Tennis Center.
