IRVINE, Calif. - The No. 57 UC Irvine women's tennis team (13-8) lost 6-1 to No. 18 Pepperdine Saturday afternoon in non-conference play at Anteater Tennis Stadium.

The Waves won two of the three doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead. No. 10 Sylvia Kosakowski and Bianca Dulgerhu defeated seniors Inna Agababian and Becky Bernhard 8-3 in the No. 1 match. Junior Clare Fermin and freshman Becca Kwan beat No. 49 Jill Braverman and Anarmika Bhargava 8-4 in the No. 2 match. Tania Rice and Anete Bandere defeated seniors Lisa Shih and Jessica Broadfoot 8-0 in the No. 3 slot.

In singles, Jill Braverman put the Waves up 2-0 as she beat Rebecca Kwan 6-3, 6-0 in the No. 5 match. No. 74 Anarmika Bhargava defeated Inna Agababian 6-4, 6-4 to put Pepperdine up 3-0. Antete Bandere clinched the overall match as she beat freshman Brooke Bartlett 6-3, 6-3 in the No. 4 singles match. Bianca Dulgerhu beat Clare Fermin 6-2, 6-2 in the No. 3 match to put the Waves up 5-0. Alex Liles beat Jessica Broadfoot 6-1, 6-4 to make it 6-0. Becky Bernhard defeated No. 77 Sylvia Kosakowski 6-0, 4-6, 10-5 in the No. 1 match for UCI's lone point.
