No. 57 Anteaters Sweep UC Riverside 7-0

Anteaters conclude regular season 14-8 overall record and 7-1 in Big West play

	Inna Agababian and UCI's three other seniors played their final home match Wednesday

IRVINE, Calif. - The No. 57 UC Irvine women's tennis team (14-8, 7-1) defeated UC Riverside 7-0 Wednesday afternoon in Big West play at Anteater Tennis Stadium.

The Anteaters won all three doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead. Senior Lisa Shih and junior Heidi Kaloi defeated Nadia Sakhakorn and Yasaman Sakhakorn 8-1 in the No. 3 match. Junior Ali Borowicz and senior Jessica Broadfoot clinched the doubles point with a 8-2 win over Roxanne Plata and Angelique Corpuz in the No. 2 match. Junior Clare Fermin and freshman Rebecca Kwan defeated Erynne Oki and H.R. Espiritu 8-4 in the No. 1 slot to conclude doubles.

In singles, Brooke Bartlett defeated Nadia Sakhakorn 6-1, 6-2 in the No. 3 match to put UCI up 2-0. Heidi Kaloi beat Angelique Corpuz 6-3, 6-4 in the No. 6 slot. Rebecca Kwan defeated Donna McCullough 6-0, 6-4 in No. 4 singles to clinch the overall match win for the `Eaters. Jessica Broadfoot beat Yasaman Sakhakorn 6-4, 6-3 in the No. 5 match to put UCI up 5-0. Senior Inna Agababian defeated H.R. Espiritu 6-4, 6-1 in the No. 2 match for a 6-0 Anteater lead. Senior Becky Bernhard concluded the match with a 6-1, 4-6, 10-5 win at the No. 1 slot.

The Anteaters will next compete at the Big West Championships where they will be the No. 2 seed. UCI will open play Friday at 9:00 a.m. as they take on No. 7 seed Pacific at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden.
