IRVINE, Calif. - Senior Becky Bernhard (Roseville/Oakmont HS) was named Big West Player of the Week Wednesday following her performance against Boise State and Cal State Northridge.

Bernhard defeated Pichittra Thongdach of Boise State 6-4, 6-4 and Victoria Brymer of Cal State Nortrhridge 6-1, 6-0. Bernhard has now won five straight matches at the No. 1 singles position.

This is the first time Bernhard has won the honor this season and the 10th time in her career. Her 10 Player of the Week honors is more than any women's tennis player in Big West history and more than any athlete at UC Irvine in Big West sports.
