IRVINE, Calif.  - Freshman Stephanie Hammel (Placentia/Valencia HS) winning Big West Freshman of the Year was just one of the honors the UC Irvine women's tennis team received Tuesday.

A total of five Anteaters earned All-Big West honors with Stephanie Hammel being named Big West Freshman of the Year in addition to earning All-Big West first team honors in singles. Freshman Courtney Byron (Scottsdale, Ariz./Notre Dame Prep HS) earned All-Big West second team honors in singles. Sophomore Brooke Bartlett (Fountain Valley HS) was named All-Big West honorable mention in singles.

The doubles team of Stephanie Hammel and senior Heidi Kaloi (Wahiawa, Hawaii/Kamehameha School) picked up All-Big West first team honors in doubles. Courtney Byron and sophomore Miranda Young (Newport Beach/Tufts Univ.) earned All-Big West honorable mention in doubles.
