ANTEATERS AT CAL STATE FULLERTON FALL INTERCOLLEGIATES: The UC Irvine women’s tennis team will kick off the 2008-09 season at the Cal State Fullerton Fall Intercollegiates begining Friday at the Titan Courts. UCI will send nine members to compete in Fullerton.

MEET THE RETURNERSSenior Clare Fermin (Yorba Linda/Troy HS) earned All-Big West honorable mention honors in singles as well as in doubles with sophomore Rebecca Kwan (San Diego/Torrey Pines HS). Seniors Heidi Kaloi (Wahiawa, Hawaii/Kamehameha School), Ali Borowicz (Santa Rosa/Montgomery HS) and sophomore Brooke Bartlett (Fountain Valley HS) helped UCI finish with a No. 62 national ranking in 2008.

NEW LOOK ANTEATERS: The Anteaters graduated four seniors in 2008 and will take on a new look with five new players joining the roster. The team brings in the 23rd ranked freshman class in the nation with Courtney Byron (Scottsdale, Ariz./Notre Dame Prepatory HS), Stephanie Hammel (Placentia/Valencia HS) and Hannah Holladay (La Jolla HS). Joining the three freshmen are twin sisters Miranda and Hayley Young (Corona del Mar HS) who will be sophomores after transferring from Tufts University.
