IRVINE, Calif. - The UC Irvine women’s tennis team has received a national letter of intent from Kristina Smith to attend and compete in women’s tennis at UCI, announced by Anteater head coach Mike Edles.

Kristina Smith, a senior at Dana Hills High School, is rated as a 5-star recruit by TennisRecruiting.net and is ranked No. 16 in California and No. 67 in the nation for high school seniors.  Smith helped lead her Dana Hills team to their second straight CIF team title. As a junior, Kristina won the CIF individual doubles title with partner Brynn Boren.

Kristina’s mother, Maria Smith is an Anteater tennis alum and was a qualifier for the NCAA Division I Singles Championships.

Coach Edles says, "Kristina is an extremely patient and smart player with exceptional speed.   Her game style will fit in very well at UCI.  Also, Kristina is a complete player and will excel in both singles and doubles.”
