LOS ANGELES, Calif. --- UC Irvine suffered a 3-0 (25-21, 25-19, 25-19) loss to Loyola Marymount to conclude the Sheraton Four Points LAX/LMU Volleyball Classic Saturday at Burns Recreation Center. The Anteaters, who finished third among four teams, dropped to 4-6 overall with the loss. Redshirt freshman Alexandra Hauser earned all-tournament honors for UCI after posting a career-high six block assists against San Jose State en route to a tournament total of 11. Hauser added 20 kills, hitting .326 in three matches. It was the first tournament honor for Hauser.

Against the Lions, UCI was held to a season-low .162 average while the Lions put together a .300 hitting clip. Sophomore Kari Pestolesi led the team with 13 kills while adding 10 digs. Lauren Kellerman chipped in eight kills and a team-high 12 digs. Setter Taryn Robertson posted 31 assists and a pair of block assists while Devon Sutherland registered 11 digs. Hauser recorded six kills and two of the team's four block assists.

The two teams traded points early in the first set but the Lions would eventually break away from an 11-11 tie with five straight points for a 16-11 edge. UCI cut the lead to three several times with the last coming at 24-21 on a kill from Pestolesi. However, LMU setter Renee Horton connected with Erin Downey to claim the first frame.

Emily Day gave LMU the early lead, firing consecutive service aces and then back-to-back kills to put the Lions up 8-2. UCI battled, capitalizing on LMU errors and closed the deficit to one at 15-14 on a kill from Shannan Homan but that would be as close as the Anteaters would come. The Lions opened a comfortable four-point lead at 23-19 and put away the next two points to end the set.

UCI was unable to build any momentum in the final frame as LMU climbed to a six-point lead at 15-9. The Anteaters would trail the entire set with the Lions winning by six points with a kill from Day on match point.

The Anteaters continue tournament action at Notre Dame next weekend.
