Dan Klatt is entering his eighth season as head coach of the UC Irvine women's water polo team, and is 128-79 during that time. Klatt continues to lead UC Irvine through their ascent toward the top of the water polo landscape. Klatt earned Big West Coach of the Year honors for the third straight year following his sixth consecutive winning season in 2011, going 23-9, tying a UCI record. The team claimed their second Big West regular season title and third consecutive Big West Tournament title and the team's first berth in the NCAA Tournament. The 2011 Anteaters finished fifth in the NCAA Tournament and a No. 7 ranking in the year's final poll. Klatt and the 'Eaters have made waves since joining the Big West with a 12-3 record in the three years and the Tri-Big West champion crown in 2009. The Anteaters spent his first four seasons in the MPSF conference finishing 6-6 in the conference twice and finishing as high as seventh in the conference tournament, the school's best finish during its time in the MPSF. During the summer, Klatt served as an assistant coach with the U.S. Women's National Team and guided them to titles in both the FINA Women's World Cup and the FINA World League Super Finals eliminating Australia both times. Klatt's playing history is just as impressive. He was a member of the 2004 U.S. Olympic Water Polo team that competed in the Athens Games. He's been a member of the national team since graduating from UC Irvine in 2001 where he played his college water polo career. |

Assistant Coach Andrew Rowe |

Andrew Rowe is entering his fourth season with the Anteaters and first as the team's assistant coach. Rowe has played water polo since he was eight where he represented his state and country as a member of the Australian school boys' team and Australia Jr. men's team. He played in the Australian National League for five years and coached his former team, Western Sydney. In addition to being an assistant coach, Rowe is general manager and head coach of the 18-High School Girls at Socal Water Polo Club. He has also been an aeronautical engineer and been involved in the aerospace industry as both an engineer and in a managerial role for the last 16 years. |

Director of Operations Bruce Reynolds |

Bruce Reynolds returns for his second year with the team. Reynolds has been around UCI water polo since he was 5 years old where he learned how to swim from UCI Men's Coach Emeritus Ted Newland. He played for Newland at Corona del Mar High School and UC Irvine. Reynolds is still an active player for the Newport Water Polo Foundation and Tri-Valley Water Polo, who are the current Senior Games and USA Water Polo Master 60+ National Champions. Reynolds was awarded USA Water Polo Masters First Team All-American in 2009 and 2010. Reynolds is married to his wife, Lynn, who was a New York State champion swimmer, and has two sons, Patrick, who coaches high school and club water polo in Santa Barbara, and Lucas, who currently plays water polo for UCLA. He is part of a four-generation water polo family that includes his grandfather, father, himself, and his sons. |

Volunteer Assistant Coach Jillian Kraus |

Jillian Kraus is entering her first season with the UC Irvine women's water polo team. She was a member of the USA water polo squad after an extensive career at UCLA. Kraus helped the UCLA women's water polo team to four consecutive NCAA Championships, including the latest title in May 2008. During the 2008 season, scored 57 goals on 141 attempts, with 41 steals and 10 assists as a defender. The 178 goals in her four seasons placed her as the fourth-highest career goals total in program history, according to the university. Kraus was named to the All-MPSF Academic Team for three straight years and was selected as the MPSF Co-player of the Year this season with teammate Courtney Mathewson. She was on the All-American First team. She was a finalist for the 2008 Peter J. Cutino Award, which is presented annually to the outstanding female and male collegiate water polo players in the United States. Kraus and UCLA's national champion teams of 2007-2008 visited the White House Tuesday, June 24, 2008. She received a kiss on the cheek from President George Bush. Kraus was a four-year letterwinner in water polo and swimming at Foothill High School under coaches Dan Klatt and Dave Mikesell (water polo) and Jim Brumm (swimming). She served as water polo team captain in 2004 and earned MVP and scholar-athlete honors. Kraus captured CIF Division I co-Player of the Year in 2004, and also competed for the SoCal club team and the USA National Youth Team. Her full name Jillian Amaris Kraus, born in Newport Beach, Calif. Her parents are Robert and Pamela Kraus, and she has two brothers, Chris and Jeremy, and one sister, Jennifer. After four years of college, Kraus graduated with a degree in political science. Her favorite quote is “Every day I’m hustlin’, hustlin’” by rapper Rick Ross. |
