No. 13 `Eaters Fall 7-4 at No. 7 San Jose State

SAN JOSE, Calif. – The No. 13 UC Irvine women’s water polo team (7-9) lost 7-4 at No. 7 San Jose State Sunday afternoon in non-conference play at the SJSU Aquatics Center.
The Spartans took a 2-0 lead in the first period thanks to eight saves by keeper Meagan Minson. SJSU pulled away in the third period as they built a 6-2 lead heading into the final period of play. The ‘Eaters were able to cut the lead down, but it wouldn’t be enough as San Jose State would hold on for the 7-4 win.
Junior Caitlin Haskell (Fresno/Buchanan HS) lead the ‘Eaters with two goals. Junior keeper Lauren Davis (Downey HS) had three saves for UCI. Minson ended the match with 12 saves for SJSU.
The Anteaters will host No. 3 UCLA Thursday at 7:00 p.m. in non-conference action at Anteater Aquatics Complex.
